WCEI Brand

At WCEI, our members are our most valuable asset, embodying the spirit and values of our organisation. As accomplished women business leaders, they exemplify not only professional excellence but also the resilience, personal growth, and well-being that are integral to their journeys. Each member brings a unique story - of challenges overcome, of strength in adversity, and of the relentless pursuit of both personal and professional fulfilment.

The WCEI brand is more than a symbol of trust, excellence, and empowerment—it represents a shared legacy of perseverance, connection, and purpose. We recognise that success is not solely defined by achievements in business but also by the ability to navigate life’s complexities with courage, balance, and determination. By celebrating our members’ stories, both professional and personal, we create a space where authenticity, collaboration, and mutual support thrive.

As we often say, “Alone we are invisible. Together we are invincible.”. This belief is at the heart of everything we do, underscoring the power of unity and the strength found in lifting each other up.

Looking ahead, the WCEI brand will continue to champion leadership, growth, and opportunity - not just in the business world but in the lives of the women who shape it. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of women entrepreneurs, equipping them with the tools, networks, and inspiration to succeed in an ever-evolving global landscape. Together, we are building a future defined by equality, innovation, and lasting impact - one where personal and professional aspirations are realised side by side.

How WCEI Australia came to be

Les Femmes Chefs D'Enterprises Mondiales FCEM was founded in France in 1945. The first Australian affiliate organisation WCEI began in Victoria in 1985.

FCEM

Founded in France in 1945, FCEM emerged as a visionary response to the changing roles of women at the end of the Second World War. Women stepping into leadership roles and taking over family businesses recognised the need for global connectivity, irrespective of political or geographical boundaries. They sought to support one another, share knowledge, and build a network to navigate their journeys as business and industry leaders.

Today, FCEM has grown into a truly global organisation, spanning 120 countries and connecting half a million women leaders worldwide. This enduring vision remains as relevant as ever, fostering collaboration and mutual empowerment for women in business on an international scale.

Significant Women and the Australian Chapter

The Women Chiefs of Enterprises International (Australia) (WCEI) was established in Victoria in 1985 as the Australian affiliate of FCEM. Visionaries like Noel Waite AO and Lorraine Martin AO recognised the immense value of creating a supportive environment where women could connect, share experiences, and grow together.

These trailblazing business women were instrumental in laying the foundations for WCEI, embodying the FCEM vision of empowering women to lead with strength, resilience, and collaboration. Their foresight ensured that WCEI became a vibrant network for Australian women in business, offering mentorship, inspiration, and opportunities for growth.

With a legacy built by a strong foundation of leadership and passion, WCEI continues to support women in business across Australia. The organisation embraces the mantra, “Alone, we are invisible. Together, we are invincible,” highlighting the power of collective strength and shared experiences.
