Margot de Groot is a Director of de Groots wills & estate lawyers, with offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The Firm, which Margot established in 1986, provides advice on wills and estate planning, deceased estate and trust administration and estate litigation.
Margot completed a Business Management Program at the Harvard Business School in Boston during 2004 – 2006 and was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2004. She is also a Notary Public.
Margot founded the Queensland branch of the international Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and was a founding member of the Queensland Law Society’s Succession Law Committee.
She has served as Chairman of Law Australasia, a National Association of law firms and held directorships with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Trust, the Queensland Law Foundation and Energex Retail Pty Ltd. Margot is also a past Chair of St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School Foundation.
In 2016, Margot co-authored a book titled ‘Social Media is Not Enough – To Maximise your MarketAbility’ which focuses on developing skills for operating in the professional services sector.
Margot has also diversified her business interests. After undertaking studies at the New York Flower School, Margot opened a Florist Shop at the Gold Coast in late 2016 (and in 2017, 2018 and 2019 it was voted the best florist shop on the Gold Coast in a competition sponsored by the Gold Coast Bulletin). At the same time Margot was elected Queensland President of Women Chiefs of Enterprises International (WCEI) having been a member of that organisation since 2004. In late 2017 Margot was elected as the National President of WCEI and served in that capacity until October 2019.
